Happy holidays from Alana and Megan!
Yoga class at the Rocket Holiday Party
by Alana
Over the past few months, I’ve been reflecting that the biggest gift you can give someone is your time.
We’re all overwhelmed with to dos, obligations to work, family, and friends, and the pressure of productivity culture. We’re all under siege by apps designed to ensnare attention and barraged by a news cycle that necessitates numbness as a coping mechanism. We’re all torn, time and again, between doing something we want to do versus something we feel we should be doing.
So to see so many folks out of bed on a Saturday morning in December, moving and laughing with Megan and I - gratitude doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel.
Our first little rocket yoga holiday party was silly, sweaty, and shared with friends new and old who came out to Grand River Rocks Kitchener for the event. Rocket regulars and first-time yoga students alike took part in a free class and snacks (Megan’s delicious baking!) to kick off the holiday season.
In a world that often feels angry and unstable, movement, connection, and joy seem to me the only things we can do to stay sane. So, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who came out yesterday, and to all those who couldn’t join us but sent their best. We appreciate your time, your sense of play, and your (definitely not forced) laughter at my excellent jokes ;)
If you’re looking for more free, fun ways to move in our community, Megan and I teach with KO Yoga, a local nonprofit that offers free classes throughout KW.
Xoxo - Alana and Megan
